Petroleum Industry’s Economic Contribution to North Dakota in 2017

The purpose of this study was to estimate the economic contribution of crude oil and natural gas exploration, extraction, transportation, processing, and capital investments in North Dakota in 2017.

Several surveys of various segments of the industry were used to collect production, expenditure, and other key economic metrics for the petroleum industry in North Dakota. Additional information was collected from government agencies and other secondary sources. Survey and secondary data were used to develop appropriate economic profiles within the IMPLAN modeling system to represent the petroleum industry.
